Lots of photos below after all my wordiness…

Ok – this “we can plan our vacation on the fly” was pretty challenging today. We decided to rent a car here and drop it off in 3 weeks in Cairns and proceeded to find a car online. After a few hours we had no success (maybe because of summer vacations here?) and walked to a car rental office. He couldn’t help with his cars but tried to find one from other car rentals. It seemed like we were all set but as soon as we entered country – USA – the price doubled! After following additional suggestions we now have a reasonable reservation we can pick up tomorrow out of town. Crossing our fingers this will work – TBD.

After all that “fun” we headed to a upscale mall called the Emporium to pick up a phone holder – I left ours in our last rental – opps! After some lunch and coffee I decided to take a long walk while Dirk rested. And I finally found the area of Melbourne that I really liked only 4-5 blocks away! I wish I’d seen all this sooner.

We enjoyed an Indonesian dinner and then walked down the same road to see some night time lights.
