February 8th to Torquay – Addendum

As we traveled the windy roads we occasionally stopped to relax for a minutes or to let other car pass us. One stop turned out to have a 15 walk up hill to see a waterfall. Who could resist? Although the waterfall wasn’t spectacular the walk was beautiful and we were able to let the next people who came by that it was worth it.

We also stopped where there was a story of a wrecked boat and it reminded me that I had left out an important part of the Great Ocean Road story – it was also called the Shipwreck coast for good reason – many cliffs and not many places to land.

We were a little late getting to Torquay as we hadn’t anticipated the slow and winding road, but we settled into our hotel and headed to another Vietnamese meal.

I like how a number of cafes and restaurants work here – you look at a menu, walk up and order it and it’s brought to you when ready. The service is better and the restaurants seen to handle more business this way as well.

Torquay is a great summer and beach town with lots of energy and also many summer homes. We wish we had more time to linger but there’s so much more to see.
