February 9 – Torquay to Sale, Victoria

We got a bit of a late start in the morning – I was working on this blog – and by the time we left it was near 10:30 and we had a ferry to catch. Instead of driving around or through Melbourne we could take a ferry that would save us a couple of hours of driving, plus it was nice to be on the water.

We had a lot of driving to do to get to our chosen destination – Sale, Victoria (funny name!). We stopped a few times along to way but DIrk did all the driving – my system was affected by the boat ride! We stopped for lunch in Tooradin which is on Western Port Bay and walked around a small beach area.

Although we arrived here around 6pm we ended up taking a lovely walk around nearby Lake Guthridge enjoying many varieties of birds including another similar to the cockatoos called Corellas – hundreds on bushes and trees. And then we saw giant bats call Fox Bats hanging from trees. We didn’t stay long enough to see them all fly out at once but did get some photos of bats in flight. Oh – there were at hundreds of them hanging from trees along the path!
