February 10… Sale, Victoria to Mallacoota, Victoria

We washed some clothes and walked along the local pond again while things dried then headed to our first stop of today’s travels – a costal town called Lakes Entrance. There are three large partially salt water lakes – inland waterways which cover 100’s of miles. We saw some of the area and had lunch near a marina and collected information about the rest of the east coast where we are traveling today.

The next stops were Marlo and then Cape Conrad, both with views of the wild ocean in the area.

Most of the driving was pretty easy until we came to our last 15 miles – another winding, narrow, up and down hills road. Sure don’t like those even if Dirk is driving. We were happy to see the town of Mallacoota – a surprising town with at least hundred or more caravans, RVs, pop-up vans camping along the ocean or nearby fields. It’s popular because of the beaches, fishings and some sleeping trailers were towing boats as well.

We walked near the campers while looking for a area where kangaroos collect but instead were shown two koala bears up in a tree. Cool – right? It was getting dark so my photos aren’t great but we did see them moving about. Made my day!
