February 26 – Cairns & Crystal Cascades

We relaxed this morning, did a little shopping in the afternoon and finally had the energy to visit Crystal Cascades- a series of waterfalls with a walking path. They were created by a mountain lake (Lake Morris) which is now Cairns city reservoir.

I had no idea that this would be a half hour walk with cascading falls the entire way – I was expecting something smaller and calmer. Instead this showed the power and sound of water that couldn’t be contained while we enjoyed the woods all around us. There were a few old fashioned swimming holes along the way but with the current today I stayed close to the shore when I enjoyed floating in the stream.

Tonight we returned to the Vietnamese restaurant and sat with two lovely people, Marcus and Della, who advised us on upcoming travels and were interesting to talk with about their travels and life as well.
