March 3 – Cairns to Sydney and a great view

We took a few early morning goodbye photos from our balcony and headed to the airport, wondering if our luggage weight would be an issue as we heard happens with JetStar, our carrier. We did have to move around items between our backpacks and luggage but finally “passed” – this is after paying for extra weight ahead of time!

Sydney has excellent train and light rail/tram services I am determined to use them versus Uber during this visit. We took the train from the airport to a station near our hotel and later, with help, were able to take a tram to our next destination (and back again!). All transportation can be paid by tapping your credit card on monitor on a nearby pole when you get on and off. Easy, once you know.

So not having tons of energy thanks to the early day, we again headed to the highest view in the city – this one called Sydney Tower Eye. Since we had been to Sydney for a few days in January it was fun to see those places from up above it all, and we enjoyed seeing a cruise like ours leaving the harbor.

Tower among the high rises…

Ships in Harbor: Besides the Holland America cruise ship on the right, the Queen Victoria Cruise Ship was also in the harbor justing hanging out there. At the bottom on the photo are Navy ships – Dirk would like to tour the air carrier but that’s not being offered.

Busy harbor, and this is only about a third of it.

After successfully finding our way back to our area (next to China Town) we enjoyed an Indonesian dinner (again!) and are planning our next two days in Sydney.
